Smoky Mountain Children’s Home Benefits from Golf Tournament

The Smoky Mountain Children’s Home lives every day in anticipation of God’s provision for the daily needs of the children and staff on campus. We witness the miraculous expressed in James 1:27 through various ways from our churches, individuals and the community.

One of our recent miracles was through David and Becky Hadden, owners of The Greenbrier Restaurant in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. David and Becky had wanted to do something to raise funds for the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home for some time. David was awakened during the night with the idea of having a Par 3 Golf Tournament which would allow for more people to participate. He refers to it as his “dream” charity idea.

The Greenbrier Restaurant Par 3 Charity Golf Tournament was organized, the weather was cooperative, gifts were donated and several participants experienced a great time.

The ultimate result of the event was presented to Dr. Daniel F. Boling, director of the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home in the form of a check for $2,800.00. Dr. Boling shared that the funds would be used for summer activities on campus and in particular a Worship and Arts Camp sponsored by the New Hope Church of God for some of the gifted residents.

Dr. Boling stated, “Smoky Mountain Children’s Home sincerely appreciates the support and concern expressed for the residents and staff by the many businesses and people of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.”

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress” (James 1:27 NIV).
