Report of the Church of God in Czech Republic

In the initial years of world evangelism, missionaries were welcomed and allowed into most countries to just spread the Gospel. As time and cultures progressed, a missionary now will only be accepted if he/she has a skill or career, such as medical or educational, that will benefit the society into which they are called to minister.

Once churches reach out into the local communities by humanitarian venues, trust is established, and their influence, as well as the missionaries’, is widespread. Missionaries begin with the skills they have to offer, and God moves upon them to affect spiritual issues.

Sabrina Evans is such a missionary. She felt the call to missionary service in the Czech Republic. As an educator who teaches English, new church plants are developing through the English camps. One camp recently had teenagers attending from Prague and Lipnice. Not only did they learn English, but they learned about God, and six of them decided to follow Christ!

Just before school began, a huge community outreach at a local elementary school hosted a Back-to-School Party for the kids and their families. Over 150 attended the event. The Life Center (a community center sponsored by the church) was introduced, sharing the types of programs available, including counseling seminars. Parents can take advantage of workshops on developmental/behavioral issues with children, and even a Bullying Prevention Workshop was offered at the Prague Christian Library.

The Third Grade Emotions Workshop for Kids was also held at the local elementary school, creating a wonderful bridge into more involvement with the community.

Nine churches are included in our Church of God official registration in the Czech Republic, providing more and more opportunities for them to cooperate together in reaching their communities with education, guidance, and acceptance of Jesus and His saving grace.
